Gallagher Park, located north of Bedlington on the site of the Doctor Pit Colliery site, has been modernised with a new pavilion. The building provides a community room and kitchen, two changing rooms and toilets.
Gallagher Park was reclaimed during the 1970s when the old spoil heap and colliery buildings were landscaped to create a new outdoor recreational facility. As well as providing opportunities for walking, cycling and picnicking, the park also provides football pitches, a BMX track, play facilities and a mountain biking course.
The park is supported by the Friends of Gallagher Park group who carry out regular maintenance works and have raised significant funding for developments.
